Use: administer the product as it is or add water until the consistency of the mixture is similar to that of an homemade ice cream. In the latter case, unifeed is usually more appetizing but the product must be replaced at least once a day (especially in summer).
Method of conversion to unifeed: most birds accept immediately the new food even wet, while, in case of reluctant or new phobic birds (i.e. wavy budgerigar), which don’t accept unknown food, it is useful to add water until the consistency of the mixture is similar to that of an homemade ice cream and add a small quantity of seeds (10-15%) so that birds in search of seeds will be forced to taste it (before, obviously, any other kind of food must be removed from the aviary). After ensuring that birds eat unifeed, it can be administered alone either dry or wet.
Types of unifeed:
• Reproduction: unifeed particularly rich in vitamins, provitamins, and microelements, it has to be administered about 2 months before egg laying (end of winter-beginning of spring); it stimulates mating, increases fertility and helps a correct egg hatching.
• Breeding: unifeed richer in proteins, mineral salts and vitamin D for a correct baby birds growth; it has to be used from egg
hatching (or one or two days before) up to baby bird weaning. Administration in wet form is recommended.
• Moult: unifeed richer in sulphurated amino acids and zinc to support metabolism in a critical period such as moult.
• Maintenance: unifeed which can be used all year round, for birds not in reproduction phase or just weaned and for female birds during incubation. It supports and helps to restore liver function after metabolic stresses like egg laying (female) and moult.
